Explosion and Fire Accidents and Injuries

People are injured or killed in accidents involving fires and explosions each year. The accidents and injuries can be horrific and when they result in the death of a victim, they can be devastating. And almost always, the emotional loss is coupled with a financial loss with the loss of a wage-earner to the family or with the excessive medical bills and time away from work for those involving serious burns.

Fire and explosion cases are very fact-specific and recovery may be limited depending on who is at fault. Logically, you understand there are many types of fire and explosion injuries. They can result in defective products, such as exploding propane tanks or fuel tanks, defective gas lines, fittings, or fixtures, defective explosives, fireworks, or ammunition, or defective electrical devises. These would all fall into the greater category of defective products. Liability arises against the manufacturer or retailer of products which are either manufactured defectively or designed defectively. The defendants can be large, public corporations, but they may also be smaller entitles without significant resources. Before making a decision of whether to proceed, discuss the case with someone with experience.

Even when an explosion or fire may not have been caused by a defective product, the accident may have been the result of faulty workmanship. Oftentimes, unstable and dangerous products must be handled with care to control the risk of harm. For instance, when propane tanks are filled, the manufacturer recommends the tanks be filled to the top to avoid odor fade. Failure to do this results in the odor fading which keeps people from smelling the propane when there is a leak. Aside from the potential danger associated with this mistake, countless other errors in workmanship have lead to injury and death, oftentimes without any notice to the victims.
