A surprising number of patients have complained of debilitating pain associated with the device. For more than two years reports, of the DePuy ASR hip replacementsshortfalls have been an damages issue in the medical community. If you or a loved one has experienced unnecessary pain and costs associated with a DePuy Metal on Metal hip implant, our attorneys can help. DePuy Hip Replacement Failure

The DePuy ASR system was a large diameter, metal-on-metal hip resurfacing device with a high rate of failure and premature break down. The FDA reports that the most common problem is a loose cup, which requires surgical repair.

The ASR hip cup revision reports note the specific causes of failure, including loosening of the joint, pseudotumor issues, and metallosis. While a high quality hip replacement should fuse to the bone and become a stable permanent part of the body, patients with an ASR cup revision often experience no bony ingrowth.

Patients also describe debilitating pain in the joint, most commonly during movement. Some describe the pain as activity-limiting, preventing them from engaging in basic daily activities. Patients have also experienced ALVAL, or an adverse tissue reaction to the metal particles released. Soft mass growth around the device can increase pain, and create joint restriction by pressuring the new joint.

Though there is not currently a DePuy ASR hip replacement class act suit, you have more than enough cause to pursue a lawsuit for personal damages if you have experienced pain, discomfort, or repeat surgery as a result if the implant's failure. Mass Injury Firm is investigating DePuy ASR replacement lawsuits for patients who have a legitimate complaint. Our defective medical device lawyers are versed in joint replacement failure, and are interested in those who have experienced synthetic joint replacement failure of any kind.
