Somerville, Massachusetts is the most densely populated municipality in New England with 75,754 people, 33,720 households, and 14,673 families living in the city as of the 2010 census. Interstate 93 and Route 28 are the two highways that pass through Somerville. Interstate 93 is elevated throughout most of its length throughout the city. Although the city of Somerville strives to ensure pedestrian and automobile safety, the city traffic has outgrown Somerville’s original infrastructure. Somerville’s narrow streets and lack of parking often makes motor vehicle traffic congested.
